According to insider information, Google is actively negotiating with three TV networks, which have blocked access to their sites for users of Google TV – service, launched in the U.S. this month.
Three largest broadcasters (ABC, NBC and CBS) have blocked the web version of their show for the owners of Google TV set-top boxes, thus leaving a shadow on the bright dream of Google’s move from desktops to television in the lounge.
Representatives of Walt Disney Co and NBS Universal confirmed on Thursday that the company blocked access to Google TV. Disney owns the ABC network and cable business channel ESPN. Fox News Corp has also not excluded the possibility of a similar step.
Service is implemented on the basis of consoles from Sony Corp and Logitech International, and certainly provides new opportunities for advertising on Google, which is the main source of revenue giant.
But Google plans to seriously threaten the stability of the television business, which so clearly recognized as broadcasters. Google just get a huge advertising platform, biting off part of the revenue from television.
